It is an original trench gun and is in really good condition with one caveat - the heat shield was ripped off. It still has the bayonet lug, but the original guy ripped the heat shield off. Hell, it still has 3 of the rivets!

Norinco 1897 trench gun heat shield keeps wandering forward under recoil. I plan on milling out the screw threads and taping for a larger size thread that will actually protrude more. I was wondering if that'd be a good idea as obviously without the mechanical advantage of the screws being in the grooves the clamping force isn't enough. Like everything these days, I strongly suspect most are/were made in China. Wish I could give you a better answer.
