Pitt doesn't even offer much to stellar in-state students anymore. (post-Covid) Pitt still attracts plenty of full-pay international, full-pay OOS, and full-pay in-state students. Schools like William & Mary and UVA offer zero merit (and they tell you up front) to OOS students as well. My older daughter (2021 grad) was a high stats student who only received $2000 a year from Pitt (cs major). She was subsequently admitted to two Ivy leagues schools, Penn and Cornell, GaTech and Johns Hopkins. There is no additional merit tied automatically to an honors college acceptance. There is a Chancellor’s Scholarship which is very selective and only available to those admitted to the honors college. 50 accepted honors college students are interviewed and only 15 receive the scholarship.

The Psych major is very popular at Pitt. A lot of pre-meds take it as well as non pre-meds. Pitt does not offer a Psych minor at the main campus. Notably, the PhD Psych program (as well as PhD Philosophy) are highly regarded. Western Psych Hospital on the Pitt campus is a premiere research and in-patient psychiatric hospital.

My daughter applied August 4th, was accepted August 29th but didn’t receive the congratulations video email until Sept 6th. We found out by accident she was accepted on Aug 29th as we checked the portal to ensure all docs were received and saw the acceptance letter. So keep an eye on the portal 🙂
