Use a torque wrench to tighten the cap to proper torque of 10 inch pounds. Don't use the plastic wrench that came with the red dot, it's useless. Like others said, starburst dot might be astigmatism. My right eye has slight astigmatism so it see the red dot like a star burst but my left eye sees it as a perfect dot.

Many of the competitive shooters reported problems under recoil with the R1P and narrowed the problem down to the battery cover.
