Most single action revolvers, including Rugers from 1972 and earlier, are not safe to carry fully loaded. If you've got all six chambers loaded, the firing pin is resting on the primer.

The voltage regulator is part of the CCU. Check the plug from the stator to the CCU to make sure it is connected. with machine running check voltage at battery, should be 14V DC. If it is 12v or less unplug large connector with yellow wires (between stator and CCU) set volt meter to AC, and hook one lead of the meter to a yellow wire.
