On the other hand, the old hammer fired LC9 had a reputation for great reliability. I have one of the old ones with no failures.

Well, the sights on the EC9s are machined into the top of the slide and therefore are fixed making it cheaper to manufacture. Both the LC9s and EC9s list the finish as "Black Oxide". I suspect the slide is polished a bit more before the finish is applied but I'm just guessing. So, other than the sights they are the same pistol. Ergonomics: 3/5. Despite the size, the gun is designed well and accommodated my 2X hands nicely. While the controls were within reach, the EC9s takes a hit for lack of ambidextrous controls. Accuracy: 4/5.
