Elvarg freakin impossible! I'm combat level 68, with 50 defense and 58 magic, 28 prayer. I have an anti-dragon fire shield, and am using anti-dragon potions. I am even using a familiar (albino rat). Yet. by the time Elvarg is down to 3/4th of its health, im already nearly dead and ate a good 20 or so monkfish! Although displaying no weakness, Melee has higher hit chance against Elvarg, followed by Ranged, and lastly Magic. If using melee, rune mace is an effective and cheap option in f2p. Recently I was looking into how easy/difficult it would be to kill elvarg on my ironman at lvl 40 combat and I stumbled upon a video of someone using this method.

Despite having "no weakness," magic is incredibly shit against Elvarg and melee will dominate more. I've seen people fail it on T40 magic gear and turn around and succeed at it in T20 melee gear. Part of this is because melee is better designed for shield usage at that level band than magic is, but overall it's just an unbalanced boss.

For grinding I would agree, but against something like Elvarg I'd say it's an unnecessary and even debatable change. With OP's gear and stats, strength ammy increases DPS to 0.52483 from 0.51316.
