I have an old 2 stroke polaris xplorer 300 that i can't get running right. It used to run great a few weeks ago. Then the starter went bad, so it sat for a week until i got the new starter in. I had to remove the beltcase and also the flywheel on the other side of the motor, so that I could get the new starter motor and gear in.I recently received 2 Polaris Xplorer 300's with very low compression. One a 96 the other a 98. I tore the 98 apart and replaced the crank seals and did a top end. I also bench tested the oil pump and it worked fine. After reassembly I filled it with premix and it started and ran fine.1998 Xplorer 300. I mainly use this machine for haulin' deer, ice fishing or plowing driveway and recently I put a new battery in and it was draining it quickly. You will just have to adjust the idle by sound I presume you do not have a tach. You should disassemble the carb and clean it. There could be dirt blocking one of your jets.

Fist thing I noticed is the electric start did not work,I found the power wire broken at the starter, new terminal fixed that.
