That is typical of a low coolant level, or having air in your engine cooling system. The coolant level needs to be checked. If low, then fill and bleed the air out of the system. If full, there can still be air in the system from the Thermostat change out.

If the top radiator hose isn't getting hard, then you might have a bad radiator cap, or a leak. The other possibility would be a restriction, probably in the heater core.
