I would say your DIC is probably over by 1 mpg by my experiences with 23K mileson a '17 2500 LTZ. Mileage improved a little and I have never reset my 2nd mileage meter which reads 16.2 mpg for the average life of the truck with say 55% city and 35% highway and 10% towing.

It gets 30mpg on the highway at 65mph so I guess if it regens for 7% of the time then it will probably drop to 27 to 28 mpg. Seems drop down to like 22 to 24 mpg when it’s regenerating on the highway.This VSE unit IMO is best since there is filtration AFTER the WIF sensor. Single filter L5P aftermarket units the WIF sensor is on the 'clean' side of the filter....if the water light comes on then it's too late. Stock filter has 2 sets of filter media in it, main one before the WIF and a secondary filter bit after the sensor.

The LP5 is the 1st year that GM is making the motor totally in house vs the previous Izuzu diesel influence. Regular maintenance needs to be documented at required intervals and you need to replace all external parts as needed but good piece of mind on internal failure.
